How do you say Proud MOM!!!!!!!

The last couple of months my son Bug has been endlessly filling out applications for scholarships, working on presentations for sterling scholar and has spent hours and hours of work preparing for a competition that was today...

He was named Sterling Scholar for the Drama/Theatre Dept for Bear River High School.
This in itself is a huge honor and he was thrilled as were we to be able to have this title to carry.
Today the Sterling Scholars for all the schools in the regions competed in their events for the next level for State. No one has made it past the region level in the Drama/Theatre dept for years t BRHS. And to be honest, we didn't expect him to be able to move on but of course encouraged, helped him prepare and listened to hours and hours of practicing..

He had to perform two short monologues about issues in society.. He chose to do a monologue from Shakespear on schitsofrinia and then another more serious one on Cerebral Palsey called "Inside Al" This was an extremly challenging role and was advised by several not to try it as if not done correctly could come across as "making fun" of the disease..

Bug researched and watched hours and hours of videos of people suffering from this disease and spent hours working with his Theatre coach and even more on his own trying to perfect the skill to share this without being demeaning anyone..

Last night he performed it for the last time to his dad and I while we felt great pride in his accomplishment and told him no matter what happens he has done an amazing job and to be proud of all he has learned.

Today.. 3:00 pm.. he calls me one more time for moral support before going into the interview..
4:00 pm.. calls again.. "I did pretty good mom, didnt mess up or say "um" once through the whole thing.. I even made them laugh.. !!!

They were to announce the winners tonight at midnight.. All night long we have been anxious but, yet trying not to be too hopeful for the announcement..

Well before going to bed one last time I refreshed the screen... There is a picture of my son squinching his eyes and clearly "freaking out" or trying "not to" right before his interview.. Still no announcement though.. just the story about the kids doing the competition.. So.. I go up to get him out of bed to at least show him he got the front page picture...

We get back to the computer hit the screen and there is the announcement.. now as we scroll down.. we are holding our breath... All of a sudden there it is.. Jorgen Madsen... top 5 finalist!!!!!!!!

WHOHOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! WTG BUG!!!!!! your hard hard work has paid off, you are going to STATE!!!!!!!!!
